In the morning you will be met at your hotel by your driver. He will take you to Erg Chigaga Sahara Dunes starting from the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka. At 2260 m above sea level, stopping to visit the Telouet Castle of Pacha Glaoui. Then an old caravan trail along the Ounila valley, dotted with Berber villages and Kasbahs Ksars, takes you to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a 16TH century UNESCO site, also famous for being the location for the Hollywood film Gladiator. Here you will stop for lunch and a visit.
The tour continues along the road to Agdz over the Tizi-n-Tinififft pass (1660 meters above sea level) taking the route to the Kasbah Alkaid Ali Tamnougalte. You will have dinner and spend the night in the famous Kasbah in the Draa Valley.
After breakfast, we continue along the Draa Valley with its thousands of palm groves. Our tour takes us on to the Nomadic village of M’Hamid, the last village before the Sahara desert. On the way, we stop in Tamgroute to visit the Koranic Library and Co-operative Pottery Workshops. After a delicious lunch in M’Hamid and a camel ride, we take an off-road route to the Erg Chigaga dunes, passing the Erg, the Sacred Oasis, and the Hamada, over a large, diverse landscape. On arrival at the desert camp, you will be met with a warm reception and a cup of Moroccan tea. Afterward, you can climb to the top of the highest dune from where you can witness a magical sunset over the Sahara. Back in the camp, you will enjoy a delicious dinner, musical evening, followed by a good night’s rest in a Nomad tent or under the stars.
After sunrise, we travel by 4×4 through the desert towards Foum Zguid past the dry Lake of Iriqui, stopping in Taznakht, famous for its Berber Women’s Co-operative of carpets woven by the Ouaouzguite tribe. We arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon where we say our goodbyes.
