6 Days Morocco Tour: Gorges, Valleys, Kasbahs, and Desert

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate

6 days Morocco Tour begins in the morning, driving over the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka, at 2260m above sea level, stopping in Kasbah Telouet to visit the Pacha Glaoui Castle, followed by a typical Moroccan lunch.
Then an old caravan trail takes you to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, in the stunning Ounila valley dotted with Berber villages and Kasbahs and Ksars. There will be another stop for a tour of the 16TH century UNESCO site, Ait Benhaddou. Dinner night and in the hotel in Ouarzazate.

Day 2: Ouarzazate – Gorges – Tinghir

After breakfast, you will set out by 4×4 to the Dades Gorge and Todra, passing by Skoura Oasis. An off-road track brings you to the palm groves and their Kasbahs. Then on to El Kelaa M’Gouna, along the road of the thousand Kasbahs and the renowned Valley of Roses. On arrival at the Dades Gorge, you enjoy a delicious Berber lunch. In the afternoon, the tour continues by road to the stunning Todra Gorge, followed by dinner and night in the gorge (hotel or guest house).

Day 3: Tinghir – Draa Valley – M’Hamid

An early morning start takes you through Berber villages, the fossil mountains, Tazarine, and N’Kob (a Berber village). Driving through the Draa Valley, with its lush palm groves, brings you to Zagora for Lunch. The route continues to M’Hamid, stopping in Tamgroute to visit the Koranic library and the pottery workshops. From M’Hamid, the gateway to the Sahara, you arrive in the desert camp to a warm welcome and in time to enjoy a beautiful sunset. In the evening, Saharawi ambiance and traditional dinner. Overnight in Nomadic tent, or under the stars.

Day 4: M’Hamid – Chegaga

After breakfast, there is a camel ride before setting out by 4×4 for the great sandy dunes of Chegaga. Lunch break under the shade of palm and tamarisk. In the afternoon, you will arrive in the Chegaga desert camp where you will settle in and enjoy a Moroccan mint tea, before climbing the high dune to watch a magical sunset. Dinner, and overnight in Nomad tent or under the stars.

Day 5: Chegaga – Fint Oasis

After breakfast, you will continue your excursion to the Fint Oasis by off-road route between the Erg Chegaga and the dry bed of Lake Iriqui, then Foum Zguid and continue by road via Taznakht. Here you will have a tour of the carpet co-operative, with a detailed explanation and demonstration of fine manufacturing of the various kinds of carpets in the region. Your route continues to Fint Oasis, a small oasis with palm trees in the middle of volcanic mountains. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 6: Fint Oasis – Marrakech

After breakfast, you will take a short walk around the oasis to explore the remarkable flora and fauna of its palms and river. Your next visit will be the Kasbah Taourirt and the Moroccan Hollywood Studios (if desired, entry at your own expense), followed by traditional lunch. Then the road continues through the villages of Merzgane, of Ighrem, with a short stop in Tadarte and finally back to Marrakech.
